Did you know that hunger is triggered in your brain by a hormone called ghrelin ?

That it sounds so much like gremlin isn’t too far off base.👹 Ghrelin stimulates hunger and tells your body to start metabolizing fat. It works as the yin to the leptin yang.☯️ Leptin is a hormone secreted by the brain that suppresses hunger and tells you when you're full.

But...ghrelin not only stimulates hunger, it is also responsible for stimulating thirst! What the hekk, Linda?!

Yes!! If you feel your hangry coming out - try a glass of water, plain club soda or an unsweetened tea. 💦 No sugar or fake sugar here because we don’t want to confuse thirst for hunger. The second you add sugar or fake sugar - ghrelin tells leptin to back the F off and leptin takes a time out, pouts, and forgets to tell you when you're full. It’s throwing a tantrum in the corner while ghrelin is winning and you’re continuing to pound sweet drinks or refined carbs.

So as you march through your badass life, if you find yourself so hangry you feel like putting baby in the corner - take a breath - drink a glass of plain or unsweetened something and reassess. If at that time you want to get to munching - go for it and enjoy!
