Yes! True! Artificial sweeteners have no calories meaning the body can't burn them for fuel⛽️. However, our brain doesn't know that it's not sugar, so it secretes insulin. "Insulin spikes" trigger your body to stop burning your fat it was happily munching on and burn that easy "sugar" instead✋.
That means that your body went from a well-oiled machine with a V8 metabolism to fake sugar in the gas tank. What's worse? Your brain tasted sweet and you provided no glucose, which then tells your body Walking-Dead-style that it. Must. Have. Sugar. Carbs. Anything!
If you must have a sweet fix, go for a touch of the real stuff (local honey is best) and at least make that insulin spike worth the fat burning ride. 🏎
